MOBILE LIFE CENTRES - SOUTH AFRICA
An opportunity
exists for churches to partner with South African churches by taking relief
right into the heart of the community. We are able to purchase, fully enclosed,
secure trailers that enable South African Pastors to take medicine, clothing,
food or even P.A. equipment into some of the shanty towns, to meet the needs
of the people right where they are. This works in a couple of ways:
One: churches can purchase a trailer at AU$2,000 and/or purchase on-going
supplies for these trailers. This allows the local Pastors to reach into their
chosen areas consistently.
Two: it provides a resource and ministry for Australia, for teams to work
from when on short-term missions.
Lighthouse Church can assist you in any of the above including linking you
with a team that is going to South Africa.

PRISONS - NIGERIA
"God loves the poor, and prisoners are the poorest of the poor." This statement was found by Pastor Melinda Dwight on a prison wall in Nigeria. Since then Imagine have been supporting prison chaplaincy work amongst these prisoners, many of whom are not guilty of an offence but are held in remand for up to five years before receiving a hearing. The fund supports this work that both reaches many people with the gospel, but also trains pastors for ministry both inside the prisons and in the general community once released.

PROJECT MADAGASCAR - MADAGASCAR
Project Madagascar is a long term community project over 2 decades, to build 5 model community and learning centre (CLC) with children's education and vocational training programs from Pre-school to Grade 12, with the provision of a self-paced learning system suitable for the interrupted education of many children who have to be away from school just to survive poverty during seed time and harvest. A 3 language curriculum is being specially developed & assembled to accomplish this, and also provide for a long term goal of providing such a curriculum for a school radio-of-the-air suitable for the 30% of children outside available Government services or cut off completely during the 4-5 month monsoon period. Provision of adult, adolescent and child community health information and training material/seminars & basic nutrition & nursing services is the extension of the community centre into the surrounding society.

SCHOOL OF MISSION - KENYA
Can you imagine the effect upon Africa and the nations if the Church in East Africa, one of the most powerful potential missionary forces in the world, was to be mobilised for effective ministry and mission? This is precisely the goal as we commence a training college in Western Kenya mid 2007. This college is a partnership between Yarra Plenty Christian Centre, Harvest Bible College and Praise Centre Mbale, a flagship church within the Word of Faith Churches of Kenya which is a movement representing nearly 500 churches throughout East Africa. This field trip will also contain opportunities to visit and to minister in a number of slum churches in the Nairobi region. These churches minister to people living in informal settlements who have only the barest of provisions but are finding hope in Jesus Christ.
